When it comes to the moon, most of the attention seems to focus on the full moon. But what about the New Moon? What are the most favorable activities for you during this moon phase, and what are a few simple ritual for anyone (regardless of their religious traditions) for tapping into the energy a new moon?

I’m sure you’ve heard people talk about the full moon. Some fear it. Others howl at it. And you’ve probably also heard of the term “the lunar effect”. It’s the parallels between specific phases of the 29.5-day lunar cycle with the physiological changes in living beings here on Earth... especially humans.

Most people associate of the lunar effect with a full moon. After all, the word “lunacy” came from the Latin word luna meaning moon, which also carries, shall we say, an intense and chaotic interpretation.

So what is a full moon… and more importantly, what does this mean for you?

Much is written about the full moon and the new moon. Ironically, these only account for less than a quarter of the 29.5 day lunar cycle. So what’s happening between the full moon and new moon? What are the other two of the four phases of the moon’s cycle?

Well, the quick answer is transitional phases from the new moon to the full moon and visa versa are the waxing and waning moon phases. 

​But more importantly, what does this mean for you?
